On May 20th, my incredible wife, Marile, was honored with the Public School Alumni Achievement Award by The Education Fund during the 40th Annual For the Love of ArtCharity Auction & Honoree Celebration at Jungle Island.
This prestigious award recognizes alumni from Miami-Dade County Public Schools who have achieved significant professional success while giving back meaningfully to our community.
A Proud Public School Graduate
Marile’s story began at South Miami Senior High (Class of ‘87), continued through Miami Dade College, and flourished at Florida International University (FIU). Her journey stands as a powerful example of how public education creates pathways to leadership, impact, and service.
Driven by compassion and a fierce sense of responsibility, Marile has devoted her time and talents to mentoring young women, leading initiatives in education, healthcare, and guiding the strategic philanthropic efforts of our Marile & Jorge Luis Lopez, Esq. Family Foundation. Marile leads with faith, heart, vision, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every student.
A Community Led by Example
Amongst the other distinguished honorees of this award include Dr. Maryam Laguna Borrego (SVP, COO, COS at Miami Dade College), Bill Duquette (CEO of Baptist Health), and Dr. Marie Sandra Severe (SVP and CEO of Jackson North Medical Center); to name but a few.
