Happy #ThankfulThursday

We hope our newest reflection finds you well.

Today we reflect and celebrate on the outstanding work and success of our beloved Florida International University — Marile’s and our eldest son AR’s alma mater — and that of it’s Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs (SIPA).

On Tuesday, Marile, Carlos and I proudly joined FIU’s President Mark B. Rosenberg, Ambassador Green and family, Green School founding Dean John F. Stack, and other distinguished FIU faculty and alumnus for the 2nd phase of the SIPA building groundbreaking ceremony.
The new 80,000-square-foot, multi-story facility will be built to the west of the current buiding and will be linked to it by a covered walkway and courtyard.

President Rosenberg inspired us all to push forward as he reflected on the first groundbreaking event at FIU back in 1971. Dean John F. Stack acknowledged that — “This is the next step in fulfilling Ambassador Green’s vision for us”.  Ambassador Green reaffirmed his commitment is to the students —
“I’d like to see the Green School become a globally recognized school and I’d like to see the students from the Green School around the world in positions of leadership’’.
FIU SIPA Advisory Council

As proud Panther parents, volunteers and supporters — Marile & I have been involved in the Green School for many years.

Nearly 10 years ago, I had honor of joining President Rosenberg and Dean Stack for the inaugural Green School building ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Later, AR graduated from SIPA with degrees in Political Science and International Relations.

Today, Marile donates her time and talents as Chair of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Green School.  The entire Council is hard at work with the Dean, faculty and development team securing the funds that will make the new SIPA building a reality.

The construction of the new Green School building is part of FIU’s on-going capital campaign — Next Horizon: The Campaign for FIU, which is on pace to raise $750 million for FIU to — increase scholarships and student support; optimize 21st-century teaching; advance a vibrant, healthy Miami; accelerate research and discoveries; and escalate discovery to enterprise.

Please consider helping the Green School achieve its goal of fostering greater collaboration and inspiring its students to be the global leaders and change-makers of tomorrow by donating to the construction of SIPA’s building — that will unify their departments, centers and programs in one physical space.

For more information on how you too can be part of FIU’s vision for the future — please feel free to contact us or our dear friend JC del Valle, Executive Director of Development at (305) 338-8589.

As always, thank you for taking the time to reflect with us.

Know we cherish your friendship and continued support.

Warmest personal regards,

Volunteers, Donors & Proud Panther Parents — Florida International University
