The Labor Day weekend marks the end of the summer, peek of hurricane season (as we prepare for Hurricane Dorian) and the celebration of the American worker — their strength, ingenuity and work ethics.
Marile, our kids and I reflected on how traditional work has been redefined over the years with the advances in technology and its impact on the global economy and society as a whole.
As we learned at the Aspen Ideas Festival in June, the world is in the midst of a Technological Revolution characterized by automation, artificial intelligence, and robotics — thus requiring a more educated workforce.
In the past 10 years alone, the number of higher education degrees has increased dramatically – from 205K degrees in 2009, to 953K degrees in 2019.
Today more than ever, we renew our commitment to ensure that every person — men and women — has the opportunity for economic advancement and the fair and equal pay that comes from an honest day’s work.
We pray for unemployed Americans — that they may soon re-join the workforce.
Marile and I wish you and yours a very happy and safe Labor Day weekend!
Warmest personal regards,
In observance of Labor Day, our Law Offices will be closed today Monday. Normal offices hours will resume on Wednesday, Sept 3 — pending all clear from Hurricane Dorian.
