Reflections on Thanksgiving Day 2018

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever” —Psalm 136:1

Happy Friday!

We pray this brief Happy Thanksgiving reflection finds you well and in the company of loved ones.

As Marile and I gathered with our family and looked back on this my 30th year of professional and community service, we are especially thankful for YOU — our friends, clients and colleagues.

We extended a special thank you to The Most Reverend Father Richard Vigoa — for his spiritual guidance, friendship and loving support.

As Father Vigoa reminds us — Thanksgiving Day is one of our most treasured holidays, because it is a day we show gratitude, celebrate with loved ones, and above all — thank Our Almighty Father for all the blessings graciously bestowed on us and our families — blessings that have come in countless ways and at the most opportune times.

Today and every day, Marile and I will pray for continued strength to thank Our Almighty Father for our many blessings by giving back in service to our neighbors.  As Scripture instructs:

“Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.”  —Deuteronomy 15:10

We are so very thankful for our family and that our five children — each in their own special way — have joined us in giving back in service to our neighbors and entire community.

Annia our oldest daughter, for example — has been volunteering over 700 hours with local charities and this year convinced the Red Cross and her grandmother Maria Elena — to create a special program to gift headpieces to military brides to wear on their wedding day.

Finally, we thank God for our health, and we pray for those who are facing challenges in their lives — may The Lord grant them strength and peace.

May God Bless you and your loved ones.

Happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend,

Marile & Jorge Luis Lopez, Esq.
