Celebrating National Voter Registration Day

Marile and Jorge Luis Lopez, Esq. National Voter Day

Today, September 24th, we celebrate National Voter Registration Day!

Established in 2012, this national holiday creates a common consciousness among ALL Americans of the importance of voting.

Fittingly, today we honor our right and duty we must diligently exercise in order to be good citizens of this great nation.

As Thomas Jefferson stated, voting is essential to our democracy …

“We do not have a government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.”

– Thomas Jefferson

As citizens of this great nation, we also recognized the importance of informing our young people of the responsibility to make informed decisions in electing our representatives.

“The future of this republic is in the hands of the American voter.” – Dwight D. Eisenhower

Luckily, we have been blessed enough to have registration centers being set up across Miami-Dade County to help with registering:

  • Miami Dade College (across all 8 campuses),
  • Florida International University,
  • University of Miami, and
  • Carrie P. Meek Entrepreneurial Education Center

Last year, over 800,000 Americans registered to vote on National Voter Registration Day!

Let’s break that record in 2019, as we prepare for the 2020 Elections.

Today is about uniting as a nation — it is about being an American.
