On Monday, we join our fellow Americans in celebrating the life and birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.– by honoring his legacy and sacrifice. Dr. King was an exemplary leader, activist, and visionary who shaped the history of our Nation in many great ways.
Marile and I often reflect with our children on one of the most timeless and important lessons Dr. King taught us all — service to others!
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'”-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr
One way to honor Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community“, is to make this “a day on, not a day off” by joining the MLK Day of Service movement — which seeks to empower individuals, strengthen communities, overcome barriers, and create solutions to social problems.
Join our friends with Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department and our colleagues with the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade on Saturday, January 19th, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the annual MLK Day of Service Event at Arcola Lakes Park located at 1301 NW 83rd Street Miami.
Projects include enhancements to the community center and the senior center with some painting, gardening and mulching. Event check-in opens at 8:30 a.m., event will kick-off at 9:00 a.m.
Have a safe and relaxing holiday weekend.
As always, thank you for your friendship and continued support.
Warmest personal regards,
Marile & Jorge Luis Lopez, Esq.
