President Trump has signed into law H.R. 6201, FAMILIES FIRST CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE ACT, which among other measures establishes two weeks of paid sick and family leave, guarantees free coronavirus testing, protects public health workers, enhances Unemployment Insurance, expands food security initiatives, and provides important benefits to children and families. This is just one more piece of the expanding federal government’s coordinated Coronavirus (COVID-19) response. The White House is also asking Congress for “phase three” — a $1 trillion coronavirus relief and economic stimulus plan that would include industry-specific bailouts and payments to individual taxpayers.
