This past Saturday, we had the profound joy of joining hundreds of dedicated community leaders, friends, and supporters at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami for Branches’ 2026 Black Tie & Blue Jeans Gala.

We are grateful to Philanthropic Chairs Trish & Dan Bell, whose ongoing dedication continues to set the gold standard for philanthropy in South Florida.
Special recognition goes to this year’s Trish & Dan Bell Community Empowerment Award honoree, Dr. Jose L. Dotres, Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, whose leadership in education inspires us all.
And of course, our deepest appreciation to Branches President & CEO Brent McLaughlin and the entire Branches team for their unwavering passion and excellence.
As longtime volunteers, donors, and 2019 recipients of the Trish & Dan Bell Community Empowerment Award ourselves, Marile and I felt especially proud to be part of this evening. Nights like these remind us why we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Branches year after year.
Empowering Families and Breaking the Cycle of Generational Poverty
Since 1973, Branches has served as a beacon of hope and a true partner to Miami families. Through its innovative two-generation (“2-Gen”) approach, Branches simultaneously supports parents and children, building educational assets, financial stability, community connections, and lasting hope. Their flagship programs include:
- GROW — daily after-school enrichment, tutoring, and college prep for elementary students,
- CLIMB — comprehensive support for middle and high school students, and
- ACHIEVE — award-winning financial coaching, micro-business development, free tax preparation (leading the Miami VITA coalition), emergency assistance, and more for thousands of adults.
These life-changing services reach more than 15,000 individuals annually, creating ripple effects of opportunity that extend far beyond any single gala night.
